Pilgrimage Day 7 · Salamis & Famagusta
The son of Cyprus, the opening of Acts 13 and a layered Christian city.
Discover the dayPart of our planned pilgrimage. We are refining this day with clergy, specialist guides and local partners. The spiritual shape is in place; exact timings and arrangements will be confirmed for each departure.
At the beginning of the mission
Barnabas was a native of Cyprus, remembered in Acts as a generous and encouraging disciple. When he and Paul were sent out, Salamis was their first recorded place of preaching on the island.
Among the ruins of Salamis we return to the opening lines of Acts 13. Nearby, the monastery and traditional tomb of Barnabas make space to remember the man himself: companion, reconciler and missionary.
Medieval Famagusta adds another Christian chapter through its city walls and former Latin cathedral. The day is presented with historical and pastoral sensitivity, acknowledging the island’s continuing division.
“When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God.” — Acts 13:5
